1st. son of Edwin Howell

Euclid Nelson Howell, the first son of Edwin Howell was born July 28, 1845 in Hertford County, North Carolina. He served in the Civil War with the rank of Private in Company A, 15th. Battalion, N.C., Confederate States of America. He was a member of the Sons of the Confederacy.

On October 17, 1871 he married Mildred Anne Storey, the daughter of Ben and Eliza Storey, in Hertford County, N.C. by one Jno. P. Lee.     They brought forth four children, Eula, Darius, Mary and David. Mildred was born September 28, 1847 and died February 27, 1925. Euclid died the following April 9, 1925. They are buried in the cemetery of Buckhorn Baptist Church in Como, North Carolina.

It is assumed that Minnie L. Gatling, wife of David E. Howell and Stella May Gatling, wife of Darius Hudson Howell were twin sisters. The 1900 Census shows that they were both born in October 1882. Also shown was their father, R.B. Gatling, born January, 1840 and their mother, was born in September, 1841 but her name was not readable. It might be Molly J.
